Design & Development

The physical environment directly impacts our attitude, mood, health, and well-being.

Affordable rental housing can either contribute to stress and re-traumatization or create spaces that support healing and resilience. By applying trauma-informed principles to building design, we can promote better outcomes for the people who live and work in affordable rental housing.

Resident & Community Engagement

Community engagement is the process of working with residents and the greater community to achieve sustainable outcomes, inclusive decision-making, and active participation in processes that directly impact current and future residents. Engagement means an exchange of information and learning; it creates opportunities for involvement and participation and should never be extractive. Trauma-Informed Housing involves consistent communication, transparency in decision-making and meaningful investment in resident participation and leadership.
